This time when I came to Huaqiangbei to search for vintage digital goods, I specifically chose to stay at Maker Hotel Shenzhen. Originally, I only thought it was close to the subway station and convenient for shopping in the commercial district. After staying, I realized that this hotel hidden in the busiest digital core area of Shenzhen has incorporated the accommodation details that young people care about into every small experience they have every day.
The experience of checking in begins to relax from the moment I enter, without the rigid process of traditional business hotels. The front desk staff smiled and handed me a refreshing glass of lime sparkling water, and specifically reminded me that my audiovisual room is located in the high area, avoiding the elevator and not being disturbed by passing noises at night. At the moment of opening the door, there was no expected sense of crowding in the core area of the hotel. The light gray trendy graffiti wall matched with warm atmosphere lights, and the tense feeling of just browsing the digital market for a day, was relieved by the moment the door was pushed open.
What surprised me the most was the detailed design of the room. The 2-meter-wide soft bag bed was just right in terms of softness and hardness, neither too soft to sink in nor too hard to hurt my waist. After wandering the streets all day, I was soaked in the summer heat, and after lying down for a while, my whole body stretched out. On both sides of the bed, there are not only regular charging ports, but also specially added multi specification fast charging USB ports. The camera, phone, and sports camera can be charged simultaneously without getting into a fight, without having to search for adapters everywhere. After taking the photos taken that day before going to bed, all devices can be plugged in easily. The widened desk by the window has plenty of space. A 24-hour self-service laundry room with a drying function, where dirty clothes that have been running for several days can be thrown in and cleaned up in an hour, without having to drag a large box to change laundry. One day, I went to the market and didn't return to the hotel until after 1am. I casually mentioned to the front desk that I wanted a hot drink, and within two minutes, the staff brought the hot ginger milk to the door of my room.
I have stayed in many hotels in the core business district before, most of which were just temporary overnight stays. This time I came to Shenzhen Huaqiangbei to shop for digital goods. I chose to stay at Maker Hotel Shenzhen, and the biggest feeling after staying here was that I chose the right place. There is no need to do complicated transportation strategies or take detours in the streets and alleys of Huaqiangbei to find a spot. I can fully understand the core gameplay of the digital business district when I go out, and the hassle free shopping experience is directly maximized.
The convenience of transportation has completely exceeded expectations, and there is almost no need to take detours from major transportation hubs in Shenzhen. Take Line 4 directly from Shenzhen North Station to Huaqiang North Station, and walk for 2 minutes from Exit B. There is no need to change lines throughout the journey, just a few steps with a suitcase. It is completely different from searching for a house number in a dense cluster of shops in the old business district for half an hour. Coming from Bao'an Airport is more worry free. Take Line 11 and transfer to Line 1, and the whole journey takes less than an hour to reach Shenzhen. Even if you land in Shenzhen late at night, you can arrive smoothly before receiving the subway, without having to spend a high price for a late night bus. Friends who drive by themselves don't have to worry at all. The hotel comes with a free exclusive guest parking lot, so you don't have to squeeze into high priced parking spaces in the core area of Huaqiangbei. It is particularly convenient to carry large boxes of digital samples in and out for loading and unloading.
The walking range around the hotel hides the most essence of Huaqiang North Digital Core Area. Just a 3-minute walk from the door is the SEG Electronics Market. You don't have to squeeze into the crowd at the entrance of the commercial district. Just walk two steps down the main street and you can directly enter the ocean of digital accessories, search for second-hand cameras, find niche chips, and pick vintage digital peripherals. Just lift your foot and you'll be there. Walk south for 5 minutes to reach Huaqiang Plaza and Manha Digital Plaza, where different categories of digital themed shopping malls are spread out in a row. You don't have to travel long distances across districts, and you can visit all the places you want in half a day. It takes only 10 minutes to walk to the Shenzhen Riverside Trail. After a day of shopping at a digital store, my eyes were blurred. I took a slow walk along the river, blowing the river breeze and watching the lights of Futian CBD turn on. The most surprising thing is the density of living facilities in the surrounding area. Within a 15 minute walk, you can find the most authentic old Shenzhen cuisine in Huaqiangbei. The Chaoshan noodle shop that has been running in the alley for more than a decade, the late night sugar and water shop that is still open at 2am, and the Zhengzong Longjiang pork trotter rice hidden in residential buildings, do not need to go to the old city area specifically. You can enjoy the authentic smoke and fire flavor just a few steps downstairs. It takes only two subway stops to get to the central area of Futian. After exploring the digital business district, if you want to check in at Shenzhen landmarks, you can directly reach the Citizen Center and Ping An Financial Center in half an hour without spending most of your time on the road. At night, if you want to experience the night in Huaqiangbei, you can walk for 5 minutes to the night market pedestrian street in Huaqiangbei. After shopping for digital gadgets, you can pick up a popular snack on the way back to the hotel.
The fault tolerance rate for travel in the surrounding area is also particularly high. There is a shared bicycle parking spot downstairs from the hotel. When you don't want to take the subway, you can scan a car and slowly wander along the streets and alleys of Huaqiangbei, and you can spot a niche digital studio hidden in the alley at the corner. The taxi stand is right outside the hotel entrance, so you don't have to walk to the main road to wait for a taxi. After strolling through the night market late at night, you can get off and directly enter the hotel gate, which is safe and worry free.
During this stay at Maker Hotel Shenzhen, there was no rush like rushing through Huaqiangbei before. Just a few steps out of the house, you could easily encounter the digital market and authentic smoke and fire.
